For the funky nature lover, there’s no place more fine that cabin #9. It’s a favorite for artists, musicians, sportsmen, pet owners, and naturalists. It’s perfect for anyone on a budget that didn’t think they could afford a trip to Yosemite. The cozy heated cabin features a single bed in the main room, a bathroom with a shower and sink, plus a kitchen with an oven, microwave, and refrigerator/freezer. Red curtains, a velvet Elvis, and wooden paneling adorn the windows and walls. But #9’s real charm lies in its location and on its beloved grounds.

#9 is hidden away in it’s own private nook of Camp Chilnualna, and while the cabin may be cozy, the grounds are expansive. Out back there’s a massive fire pit, a charcoal grill, a hammock, and tables and chairs. The Merced River is a hop, skip, and a jump beyond a seasonal pond. All sorts of wildlife wander about the sprawling paradise among ponderosa pine, cedar, Douglas fir, and black oak trees. There’s plenty of room for tents, and groups of friends often utilize #9’s space as a sort-of campground, with the kitchen and shower available to all.

Previously, #9 was only available to close friends of the May family, but now it’s available to the public. If you want to experience Yosemite intimately, a stay at cabin #9 is a unique opportunity to do so. You’ll never forget the truly singular experience a stay at #9 provides. You’ll come back—again and again.
